Cosplaying (costume playing) originated in Japan, where anime and manga came from. As people started going to conventions dressed up as their favorite character, they soon generated interest. The practice eventually spread overseas and became a global phenomenon. With the popularity of anime int he Philippines, it was inevitable that cosplay would also flourish here.
